Indonesia Trip

When i first decided to go to Indonesia, I didn't have any expectations. I just had a plan; to shop for my sister's wedding and try to have fun.

Things were pretty chaotic before my trip. I had to settle everything at work, make sure everything is OK (even I knew I had very reliable colleague to handle everything).

I had to leave my laptop at office so that our IT dude so that all my data will be transferred onto my new laptop when I come back. That was pretty tedious …

So, let’s begin the journey….

I only got time to change my cash to Rupiah at the airport (I know the rate is bad!). With 11million in my wallet, I felt like a superstar. Haha

The flight was on-time and pretty smooth. It was Indonesia AirAsia, so my experience commenced on board! The language was very intriguing (I had been practising for a couple of month!)

DAY 1

We arrived at Soekarno Hatta airport and was greeted by Pak Suharto (not the ex-leader, but our driver).

He brought us to the hotel and from there, we didn’t waste much time. Straight to the mall. One of the things I was hunting was wedding invitation card.

Me: Disini ada kad kawin ngak?
People : Apa ? *Blur*
Me : Undangan perkahwinan ?
People: Apa itu?
Me: Jemputan majlis nikah?
People: *Confused*
Me: Invitation Card??
Me: Kad jemputan….. tahu ngak? Itu bila nikah mahu dijemput tetamu…?

And they show me like 15 things about weddings… none of them were invitation card.

Me & Fedo had a hard time figuring that out. He couldn’t stand it and texted his colleague whos been there.

Her reply came back saying “Kartu Undangan Sai”

There’s no chance on earth for me to figure that out! Hahaha… to cut the story short, I only got to order the cards around midnight, at our driver’s house. I told him I was looking for it and luckly his neighbour does printing. Very kind of them.

By the way, the people over there were so bloody nice. Pak Suharto would run to us to take our shopping bags everytime we came out of a mall. And when we were at his house, he specifically told us to keep our shoes on. And they treat us like super nice.

Ok, back to the story… i bought a couple of things and got very excited along the way. our very first dining experience was funny. We went to this restaurant and out of a sudden, there was about 35 dish on our table. My mum had told me about this, but still it was not like what i expected.

These is after we told the waiter to get rid of what we dont want

I went shopping again. and got people to help me decide. some had to model for me. Haha

DAY TWO
After a good night rest, check-out, we head to another famous city of Indonesia; Bandung. The journey was about 2+ hours. Unlike Jakarta, Bandung was nicer, cooler, cleaner, greener, artsy and simply stunning.

There were plenty of FOS and things were pretty nice and cheap. It was about lunch time when we arrived, so we took a not-so-quick bite at a restaurant called Blue Monster Juice. Their presentation was really nice!

And that place was surrounded by soothing & eye-catching features.

Guess, AX, Gucci, Prada… just name it…..

There were just too many boutiques, shops, outlets to go.... and we went to almost all. when finally we could not feel our feet anymore, we look for food. We wanted to try something new, so, we asked Pak Suharto to suggest.

At first he was a little reluctant, but we insisted for him join us for dinner. He brought us to a restaurant which (according to him) is rather famous.

The rice was wrapped in banana leaves.

It was then when i found out a major different between the food in Malaysia & Indonesia. Over there, people enjoy their rice 'dry' whereas we indulge the curry, gravy or whatever liquid that dissolve the dryness of rice.

We were rather confused on how to eat the food. I asked for a gravy and they said its sold out. I look around, and everyone was eating it dry. But loads of vege.

We all end up with soup.

on the way back to the hotel, we made a stop at.......

Petronas!

Apparently the station was deserted. According to Pak Suharto, petrol at Petronas there is pricey. Haha

DAY THREE

We got ready to go back to Jakarta. Just look at our luggage from Bandung:

We went to about 3 malls. It was crazy and honestly crazy!!! It was my last day and i had to just go all out and buy buy and buy... It was not that easy la... coz you have to go all out with bargain..

The price can be a little crazy sometimes and you have to rely on your pr skills... hehe... which was not really a problem for me.

But, imagine doing that for 5 hours straight! I was just exhausted.

I spotted something fimiliar... something that is proven to energise, revitalise your body & mind.

Krating Daeng... (What the hell?)

Finally, we made a stop at the Plaza Indonesia. Here, everyone is good looking. The babes were nothing but sexay. We had dinner at Secret Recipe.

My tiny drink

Lemon juice (Despite being a MALAYSIAN brand, the presentation there are much better!)

At this point of time, i was already chilling coz i got most of the things on the list

DAY FOUR

Azli & the rest went back earlier. Their flight was at 8am. It was just too early for me. Me & Fedo woke up around 8am and went for breakfast. And guess what? We went to the mall again!

It was like the explorace. Asusual, i finish all of my cash.On the way to the airport, we went to collect the invitation cards. Had a heart attack when i saw the amount of luggage i have and proceeded to the airport.

It was rather nerve-wracking experience just looking at the stuff i bought. But everything went very well and we got back without any problem.

It was a great trip (lol... of course it was... when you spend millions.

Cant wait to go there again. Maybe more on site-seeing

~Cheers!

Hahaha awesome! It's been way too long since I've gone there but you coincidentally went to both my parents' hometowns (my mom's from Jakarta, my dad's from Bandung)!

The only thing I remember about going there is the food though, and I remember the best meals I had were not in restaurants but at those dirty little stalls at the side of the road or from one of those dudes who push a cart... Mmmm.... =)

p.s. -- Kratingdaeng means Red Bull in Thai =D
