12 October 2012 -The day AirAsia inaugural direct flight from Kuala Lumpur landed at Lombok international airport. The local tourism body and airport authorities hosted a very grand welcoming ceremony.
A group of Lombok beauty queens dressed up in the traditional Sasak ethnic outfit were there to welcome the guests. On the tarmac, another group of traditional performers performed a traditional welcoming dance.
The entire event was very interesting as the people of Lombok are very cultured, and the elements are reflected in their events.

Lombok :: Kuta
Upon touch down, I made my way to Novotel Lombok, which is about 25minutes drive from the Lombok International Airport.
The hotel is extremely nice (and perfect for honeymooners!). The architecture and decorations is rich in indigenous culture and traditions. It is located in Kuta, which is literally a surfers' paradise.
I was blown away when I first saw the sandy beach and crystal clear waters.
I'd like to go back to Kuta and spend an entire day by the beach.

A Promise Well Delivered
Im sure many remember the promise made by Tony Fernandes during 2011 SEA Games in Jakarta.
Someone asked him on Twitter if he could dedicate a special Harimau Muda livery if the team won the final. He straightaway said "YES!"
He's always been a man of his word, and recently the special “Semangat Harimau Muda” livery was unveiled.
The promise has been fulfilled with a special Airbus A320 decked in the team’s yellow and black colours. It proudly displays the roaring Malaysian Tiger that has been the symbol of the country’s football team.
Check out the photos for the memorable moments of the livery launch.

Hari Raya @ AirAsia
I think ive attended at least 4 Hari Raya celebrations at AirAsia.
Communications team had a pot luck, and few other departments organised it too.
The main highlight was AirAsia Hari Raya open house for Allstars. It was a fun event with loads of yummy food!
Our beloved chairman, Dato Aziz Bakar join the CEOs for Malaysia, AirAsia X and Singapore for a lunch event at the AirAsia Academy.
Great to be in a company where every celebrations is recognised and celebrated as a family.

Aidilfitri Hang Out
My Aidilfitri is never complete without an occasion with my buddies.
It was great that we get to hang out and enjoy the festive food. But we all know that aidilfitri is more than just about food – it’s about catching up, forgiveness, being grateful and so much more.
The last Aidilfitri party i had was at my old rented place, and this is the first time I'm organising it at my own place. In a way, it's a 2-in-1 event la.
Blessed to be surrounded by so much love.

Eid Mubarak!
Eid Mubarak to all Muslims!
Remember the true Raya is a safe Raya! Have fun stuffing your face with food (I know I will!)
Remember the true Raya is a safe Raya! Have fun stuffing your face with food (I know I will!)
Ku Lambai Cahaya
Hilang dari pandangan zahir,
Di hatiku tetap kau hadir,
Suram naluriku menggamit syahdu,
Oh entahkan bila terubat nanti.
Nurkasih yang bersinar,
Tak mungkin pudar,
Biar seketika,
Rupanya tuhan lebih menyayangi,
Menjemputmu kembali.
Seharum wangian kasturi,
Doa dan rinduku hanya untukmu sayang,
Nun jauh di taman Firdausi,
Bahgia kau di singgahsana,
Ku redha kau pergi membawa cahaya.
~Izwan Pilus
Me : Wan, i suka lagu "Ku lambai cahaya" dalam album u tu.
Wan : Tu lagu orang mati!
Susah nak kumpulkan tenaga untuk dengar lagu ni. Bak kata lirik lagu ni, hilang dari pandangan zahir, dihati tetap kau hadir. Suram naluri menggamit syahdu entah bila akan terubat.
I miss you my friend. Al-Fatihah.

Painful Dreams
After reading few articles about the crazy demanding training (especially China's Olympic factory), I am extremely amazed by the price athletes have to pay for the medals.
It was reported that in China, children as young as six are handpicked to be the next generation of Chinese medal winners. They went to state-run schools where they get minimal education, but their core focus is on extreme training. They train every single day, for years! They all have the same goal; to become a world champion, to win honor for the country.
One story is incredibly mind-boggling. Wu Minxia, a Chinese diving athlete won gold in the 3-meter synchronized springboard, becoming the first diver ever to win golds at three consecutive games. After her victory celebrations, her parents informed her of family secrets which has been kept away from her.
She was told that her grandparents had died a year ago, and her mother was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago! All were kept away from her due to the strict athletics program, which separates children from their families and controls every aspect of their lives.
To the rest of athletes, I'm sure they have a different form of sacrifice which are equally painful. Monetary investment can be staggering with coaches fees, training facilities and travelling.
I honestly wonder if it's worth the sacrifice.
But then, I was very moved by athletes tearing up during the victory ceremonies.
From their faces, you could almost see the years of tireless training, energy & time invested. It was the most awaited "dream" where they are finally celebrated and at the same time allow their home country to be united. The highlight of the ceremony is of course when the national anthem is played and the national flag raised.
Maybe its worth it. Nothing comes easy in life. You have to move your ass to reach the top. The harder you work, the faster you reach your destination. And if you fail, your only option is to work harder, and try again.
