Red Bull Rookies: Strike a pose!
Last month, my colleague and I arranged for a photoshoot with the Red Bull Rookies. As their publicist, it’s our job to coordinate their interviews, photoshoots and everything in between.
An official photoshoot is exceedingly important. Not just for the team’s record but also to be used for media distribution. This is surely a more efficient way of doing it; especially when it involves 4 persons, an official car and a variety of logistics issues.
By having quality pictures ready, the interviews could be done via email or phone call. The media will appreciate this a little bit more as everything is prepared for them.
Last year, we had the photoshoot at a garage. So, this year we headed to Sepang Circuit. Thanks to SIC!
We had one of the best photographer in town, Gareth (or better known as ShaolinTiger) to work his magic. The whole process was fun. We had 2.5 hours to get everything ready. Make-up, hair and snaps.
I have always enjoyed photoshoots (except for those where I have to pose) and I enjoy it even more when I’m involved in developing the concept. For exclusivity purposes, we had to organize few sets of pictures, and that means they have to change into few outfits and do gazillions poses.
I am very proud of the ladies, because they were extremely cooperative and gave beautiful shots.
Its not easy to do make-up, change, strike a pose and then run in heels to change for another outfit. On top of that, we had them in their racing suit for one of the shot. Shooting in the pit wasn’t that easy, it was hot!
All in all, it was quite an experience. Leona and Puteri is somehow used to this scenario. But for the new rookies, it was something new, fun. and tiring. First they were all sweaty behind the wheels for their training and within splilt second, they were getting all dressed-up to pose. It's their first experience of becoming a professional athlete.
So, what was the turn-out?

Entertainment Marathon
Friday, 1st May – It was a public holiday. I have been nagging about going for a trip to the beach. I don’t know why but I have been craving for such trip since January. I thought it would be good to go for a road trip, check into the fabulous 4-star resort at Teluk Cempedak and enjoy the private beach.
I had a meeting with my dearest friends. 4 (including me) were up for it while the other 2 weren’t. Nana had a prior engagement. Fedo didn’t want to go and one of his reasons were “One In A Million” (The reality singing competition) grand final is on Friday.
Since he didn’t want to go, everyone else just don’t feel like it anymore. How depressing!
As luck would have it, I got free passes to the concert. It was no ordinary passes; it was those with “Contestants family” printed on it. Haha…
So, I told those who ruin my holiday trip to get ready. My exact words were “Since you really want to watch the show, let’s go and watch it live!”.
Based on my experience with awards show, theathre or any night functions, it is very important for you to have your dinner first. The whole idea of going to such events is for you to enjoy and have fun. And you will not enjoy as much with empty stomach.
We had dinner around 6pm and left home around 7pm. On the way, we discovered a clause on the ticket;
“Gate closes at 7.30pm”
Hahaha…. Someone freaked out and said “I have never been this nervous… even when I’m late for work!” –That was really funny.
The final three was really good. in my opinion, the only performance that was not good was the guest artist... Bunkface.
I was just 4 feet away from where they were performing and i couldnt understand a single word.
Saturday, 2nd May – It was the day all local singers, musicians and those in showbiz have been waiting for. It was the “Anugerah Industri Muzik” – A Malaysian version of the Grammys... if I may call it.
If I may recall my conversation with those I went with:
“Are you coming with me to the AIM award?”
-“Is it a VIP seat?”
“Yes”
-“In that case, ok”
Haha.. had the opportunity to see people I have come to know off (mostly media) and it was really nice.
This is my 3rd time attending the award show and I must say, this year’s show was superb. Everything just fell into the place just nice. Having Adibah Noor as one of the host was brilliant coz she has this natural charisma and she kept us entertained, even with just a gesture! She’s a cutie.
The performances were great. I particularly enjoyed the combination of Hujan & Meet Uncle Hussein. It was fantastic. The song by 4 beautiful ladies was just genius. Nikki has never failed to amaze me. I was busy enjoying the entire show and forgot to take pics at all!
I didn’t join the after party as we proceeded to a mamak stall for supper. I had friends at home.
Overall it was entertaining.
Now back to work.
